Abstract:   (3315 Views)
The aim of this research was study on the effect of sublethal concentrations of chromium on melanomacrophage centers in Epinephelus stoliczkae that accomplished into 3 concentrations 3.6, 7.31, 14.6 g/l during 7, 14 and 21 days. Then samples of tissues were prepared and fixed in 10% formalin. After tissue processing, dehydration, clearing and blocking, 5µm sections of hepatic samples were prepared and stained with haematoxylin and eosin and studied by light microscope. Findings showed a major change in melanomacrophage centers that severity and size of MMC increased with increasing concentrations of chromium. Number and area of melanomacrophage centers in 14.6 g/l concentration and 7, 14, 21 days has significant differences with all of other concentrations (P<0.05). While there are no significant differences (P>0.05) between other concentrations (3.6 and 7.31 g/l in all days). Also size of MMC increased significantly (P<0.05) in 14.6 g/l concentration and 21 days compared to 3.6 g/l concentration and 7 & 14 days. These findings showed that an increasing in destruction of blood cells and severity of hepatic MMC was related with increasing time of exposure to chromium.
