Abstract

In this study 239 Capoeta capoeta were hunted from Talar River in sub branch of Tajoon from August 2006 till July 2007. 26 morphometric and 7 meristic characteristics were studied in this investigation. Results were analyzed with SPSS 16 software under T-test and PCA. According to the results, the average of changes coefficient of morphometric and meristic characteristics for Capoeta capoeta in male were 18.09 and 11.64 respectively and in female 13.59 and 10.14 respectively. For the morphometric characteristics , 9 factors that accounted for about 79.57 percent of diversity characteristics and from the morphometric characters, 2 factors that accounted for 50.87 percent of variation within genus were separated. Also, there was not observed any significant difference in the morphometric and meristic characteristics between male and female (p 0.05). Studying on the population structure of Capoeta capoeta showed that age of fishes were ranging from 0+ to 3+ years. Intensive correlation was observed between length and weight in male (r2=0.928) and female (r2=0.967). According to the calculated regression coefficient (b) from length and weight relationship and results of determining growth pattern by Pauli methods, the growth pattern in Capoeta capoeta was negative allometric in male and positive allometric in female . Finally , results showed that there were significant difference according to sex in Capoeta capoeta in morphometric factors, while these differences were less in the meristic factors that can be due to environmental factors such as temperature and salinity on the morphometric factors that do not effect on the meristic factors because these factors are under controls of genetical parameters. .

Abstract

In this study, 251 Barbus lacerta were caught from Keseliyan river during August 2008 - July 2009. In order to determine morphological diversity of this species, 26 morphometric characteristics and 10 meristic characteristics were investigated. Results were analyzed with SPSS 16 software and by T-test and PCA. According to the results, the average of coefficient changes of morphometric and meristic characteristics in male Barbus lacerta were 21.79 and 5.37 respectively, and in female were 21.22 and 5.60 respectively. Morphometric characteristics were standardized before analyzing for alleviating the errors due to allomotric growth. According to morphometric characteristics, eight accounted for about 67.67% of characteristic diversity, and in the case of morphometric characters, three factors accounted for 64.85% of characteristic diversity within genus were separated. Also, there was observed meaningful difference in only one morphometric character and one meristic character between male and female (p 0.05). According to the results of Principal Components Analysis (PCA), distinctions between genuses was not observed and male and female had high overlapping.

Abstract

According to the results of a research project entitled as: Biodiversity of Inlandwater fish species of Iran which carried out from 2005 to 2010 some specimen of Luciobarbus brachycephalus (Kessler, 1872) and Luciobarbus capito (Güldenstaedt, 1773) obtained from main rivers of south basin of Caspian Ssea using of electrofishing as the main method for sampling. Samples fixed in formalin and transferred to laboratory. Then 24 morphometric and meristic factors, also 11 ratio of these two species were studied. Due to similarity between two species, the systematic differentiations were explained.
